Nicholas Hoult

I currently am watching a UK TV-Series called SKINS. This series is a teen drama that follows a group of teenagers in Bristol, South West England through the two years of sixth form. The controversial plotline explores issues including narcissism, dysfunctional families, personality disorders, substance abuse, sexuality, teenage pregnancy, disability, and death.

And what caught my eyes, beside the appearances of Dev Patel, is a very good performance by a guy who played as Tony Stonem, Nicholas Hoult. In Skins, Tony appears to be a very handsome, extremely popular and academically gifted young man, with a typical English middle-class background. However, Tony's charm and self-confidence hide an arrogant belief in his own superiority that goes unnoticed except by those closest to him. Teachers, friends' parents, schoolmates and girls all idolize him, despite his sociopathic tendencies. He plays cruel games with his family and friends, in particular those closest to him, his girlfriend Michelle Richardson and best friend Sid Jenkins. Nicholas succeed to bring out his character as a total jerk which turn to a total idiot.

And there's something that surprised me. He was a child-actor who played in a critical-acclaimed movie, About A Boy with Hugh Grant. The movie got a very good review and his performance received a good critic too. He also recently played in an award-buzz movie, A Single Man with Julianne Moore, Colin Firth, Mathew Goode & Jon Kortajarena. This movie was directed by Tom Ford. WOW!
